Paintings

Although Peavy’s oil paintings are often undated and untitled, we presume she began painting the work in the collection in the 1930s. Later, in the 1970s and 1980s, Peavy began to further rework her earlier paintings, eventually over-painting them with abstract crystalline shapes. As a result, her paintings are layered through time, representing several decades of work. Her use of layering is unique within the canon of art history. Guided by Lacamo, each layer she added represented a new revelation and invitation for the viewer to connect with the unknown. The final layers, completed in the 1980s, use the abstracted crystalline formations as a way to equip the viewer with the specific tools to receive and absorb Lacamo’s wisdom.
