Phantasma Series
The Phantasma series were painted in the 1980s, though most were undated by Peavy. While her philosophy and understanding of the principles Lacamo conveyed to her was constantly evolving, several preoccupations consistently inform her work. Peavy believed that androgyny is the highest state of human beings, and she placed a great deal of emphasis on women’s role in creation. In line with her worldview, Peavy's work shows a consistent focus on women's internal reproductive organs as many of her paintings configure ovaries, fallopian tubes, the uterus, and the birth canal.
